Wii - MLB Power Pros Review

October 4th, 2007 by Top Dawg

In search of a good baseball game I picked up a copy of MLB Power Pros at a local gamespot last night.  I was only able to play it a couple hours and with those couple hours I strictly played “Wii Remote” mode (uses only the remote).  With that in mind, my initial impression of the game was good.  I am pleased with the stadium graphics and the life like imitation of the players movements.  The in-game announcer is great and there isn’t a delay in the commentary.  The game is similar to wii sports baseball with the addition of real MLB players and stadiums, 9 innings, fielding and many different modes.  You can import you mii and play with them on your favorite MLB team (Dodgers!), play home run derby, career mode, single season,  exhibition, or gm mode.  In career mode you start as a college player and need to work your way to the majors.  On the way you have to deal with social issues, school, practice, and playing the games.  GM mode you run the team from drafting, signing FA’s to setting the lineup.  Home run derby is done with the wii remote.  In this mode it keeps records (distance, amount), which is a big plus, you get 10 pitches to whack as many HR’s as you can.  If you knock all 10 out you keep going until you miss, very cool.  The title was originally in Japan and you can tell…lots of colors.   The game is by the same people that made the Bigs, which I hated, at 39.99 I would get this game.
